Our Work in Hong Kong
Year 2023-2024
Public Education
Public education is a core part of our work in Hong Kong to promote and advance the learning and education, and deepen the engagement with different audiences on the nature, scale and impact of violence against people in poverty. Last year, despite the impact of COVID-19 pandemic, we managed to organise close to 20 virtual and in-person sharing sessions with corporations, schools, churches, seminaries and radio station, reaching over 1,000 people in the community.

School
A group of students from Diocesan Boys’ School participated in a student volunteer programme with IJM and took what they learned about modern slavery back to campus by doing a presentation and exhibition.

Churches
We are grateful for the support via churches in Hong Kong, and to be able to co-organise sharing sessions and prayer gatherings to educate local communities on the issues of slavery and human trafficking.
Fundraising and Marketing Partnership
Besides raising public awareness of modern slavery, we also seek to mobilise funding from different sectors to support the expansion of programs addressing relief and protection of people in poverty, sustaining our frontline rescue operation and program work around the world.

“Be the Light” IJM 25th Anniversary Charity Dinner
In March 2023, we organised our charity dinner “Be the Light” on the back of IJM’s 25th Anniversary celebration. It was a special occasion to express our gratitude for the unwavering support of our existing donors, and to cast our vision of protecting 500 million people from violence – which would not be possible without the financial generosity of all IJM supporters.

Wearing the Pipeline of Justice
We are honoured to have Deror Jewellery design the Pipeline necklace to celebrate the 25th anniversary of IJM, commemorating all its effort to ending slavery and human trafficking.
For every piece sold, 10% of the proceeds will be donated to IJM in supporting our work.
Corporate Partnership
Are you keen to leverage your work for good? IJM offers different opportunities for employees, business owners and corporations to help end modern slavery and violence.

Lunch and Learn Sessions
We thank Google for the opportunity to share our work in the week leading up to International Women’s Day. In the spirit of celebrating women and empowering survivors of violence, they hosted our survivor leader from the Philippines who bravely shared her journey of restoration and advocated for other victims of online sexual exploitation.

Short Film Screening
Gather a group of justice-minded individuals to watch a powerful documentary on modern-day slavery and how to help protect vulnerable people from violence. We thank SPACES for co-organising the screening and sharing session to spotlight the role of technology in human trafficking around the World Day against Trafficking in Persons.

Financial Partnership
A partnership with IJM is one way for businesses to reflect corporate values, commitment to give back to society, and end modern slavery via a social impact partnership with IJM. We thank all our partners for coming alongside our mission and their financial generosity.

Volunteer or Pro Bono services
We welcome professional pro bono services from different industries ranging from legal research to design, marketing and information technology services. We are grateful for all the pro bono support and research work provided by firms like K&L Gates, Linklaters, Hogan Lovells and Gibson Dunn. Contact our team if you are interested to volunteer with your skill and passion.
