KENYA \u2013 After a nine-year legal battle, a<\/strong> pastor who sexually abused 14-year-old Jedi* and her 11-year-old brother Kevin* has been found guilty<\/strong> and jailed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After their family joined a new church in their neighbourhood, Jedi and Kevin were abused by a man they trusted to protect and guide them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After the pastor assaulted Jedi, he<\/strong> beat her and told her, “If you tell anyone, I will kill you!”\u202f\u202f\u202f<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Scared for her life, Jedi didn\u2019t tell anyone. A few days later, the pastor invited Kevin and two other boys to go and stay at his home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A day after the children arrived, the<\/strong> man began abusing Kevin<\/strong>. He threatened to kill Kevin\u2019s mother if he told anyone about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Months later, their mother noticed that Jedi wasn\u2019t herself and took her to the hospital. That\u2019s when the doctors confirmed that Jedi was pregnant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When Jedi gave birth, a DNA test was carried out. I<\/strong>t matched the perpetrator.\u202f<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n IJM Kenya learned of the children\u2019s plight during a visit to the hospital where Jedi and Kevin were receiving medical support. Shocked by their story, t<\/strong>he team decided to offer free legal representation<\/strong> to ensure justice was achieved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A team of dedicated counsellors and lawyers began working on the case immediately. The family was facing intimidation from the community, which sided with the perpetrator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
